Simple Solutions: Success Story

MEMFlo™ MFTV Volumetric Flow Meter

Over the past 27 years of providing personalized, quality flow & level monitoring and control solutions to our customers, FLO-CORP has demonstrated that keeping things simple in complex environments has its advantages. A few years ago we had a customer with a challenging flow metering application and they came to FLO-CORP to help solve the problem.

PROBLEM: The company needed a flow meter to measure industrial coolants in a piping system that had little to no straight run of piping. They needed to measure the ethylene glycol coolant at very low flows to relatively high flows in a 3/4” piping system with a high degree of accuracy. Because the metering locations were not always readily accessible, the flow meter had to be extremely reliable without requiring regular maintenance.

SOLUTION: The FLO-CORP solution was to provide our MEMFlo™ MFTV Volumetric Flow Meter and Flow Transmitter. The MEMFlo flow meter requires no straight run of pipe, measures
accurate flow rates over large flow ranges and as an added benefit, has required NO maintenance since it has been in their application (over 4 years). Plus, FLO-CORP expects the flow meter to be maintenance free for several more years. The secret to the success of the FLO-CORP MEMFlo flow meter is the simplicity of design and quality of craftsmanship, which are two manufacturing characteristics that seem to have been lost in the general flow metering world. No spring wheels, no fancy electrical coils or generating vortices, just time proven physics and attention to detail.

If you need assistance with a tough application, we understand what you’re up against and we’re here to help find a solution, make sure the system works and continues to perform over the life of the equipment.

Volumetric Flow Meter Durability Test

This MEMFlo™ SupraFlo™ Volumetric (Variable Area) Flow Meter has been in service at a foundry since 1988. See what happens when we take a sledge hammer to the original polysulfone sight tube.

Learn more about the MEMFlo MFTV Flow Meter.

SupraFlo MFTV™ Metal Bodied Flow Meters with Clear Top are simple, accurate, meters for use in a wide range of industrial liquid and gas applications. These flow meters have an excellent tolerance to suspended solids and measure flow to one percent accuracy. Unlike tapered tube rotameters, SupraFlo MFTV flow meters have an indicator disk in close proximity to the edge of the sight tube for visibility even in many dirty fluids. And these flowmeters can be supplied with MFT™ 2-Wire Transmitters for digital flow rate and total indication.

This volumetric flow meter technology is sometimes referred to as a variable area flow meter, VA meter, rotameter, or rotometer. While these terms are used interchangeably at times, the MEMFlo flow meter has many unique advantages over other meters using the same volumetric principle for measurement including excellent tolerance to suspended solids, extended flow ranges, incredible durability, disassembly without removing from the pipeline, and many more.

Choosing The Correct Flow Meters For Hydraulic Fracturing

Hydraulic Fracturing requires accurate and durable flow meters to monitor several processes during a fracking treatment.  Ranging from the measurement of source and flowback water to the injection of chemicals, flow meters must supply correct information to move the correct amount of media to the right process on time. Read this white paper.

FLO-CORP’s MEMFlo Volumetric Flow Meters Get the Job Done in the Marcellus Shale

Growth in hydraulic fracturing has sparked an increased need for accurate flow instrumentation. FLO-CORP met that need at a Pennsylvania Hydraulic Fracturing site by providing ten meters with accurate visual indication and excellent tolerance to suspended solids and high pressure.  Read more.
